St. Peter Virtual Dive AR Portal
October 2022 marks the 50th anniversary of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's (NOAA) National Marine Sanctuary System. To celebrate, we’ve created 3D Augmented Reality displaying custom artwork and educational information made by the incredible team at NOAA celebrating the wildlife that thrives in these protected waters around the nation.
NOAA is proposing to designate a national marine sanctuary in eastern Lake Ontario and the Thousand Islands region of the St. Lawrence River to celebrate the area's unique history and heritage and provide a national stage for promoting tourism and recreation.
One of the Proposed Lake Ontario National Marine Sanctuary's most impressive recreationally accessible shipwrecks, St. Peter, is located northeast of Putneyville. This 135-foot, three-masted schooner rests upright in 117 feet of water. Learn about the history of the schooner and the battle with 70 mph winds in this Sanctuaries 360 video!
Play this content on a mobile device and travel through a portal while walking in the AR content. On the other side of the portal door is a 360-degree virtual video, walk around the scene while you walk in the real world. On the desktop simply click and drag to experience the kelp forest in 360 degrees.
